How fitting that yesterday I hit on Trust and today as I am doing my own God Time I come across trust as the main theme. You ever have those moments where you feel like God is trying to make a massive point? Yeah, the past two days have been that way for me.

My anxiety has been at its most high as I am trying to figure out what the next steps are for me. When my anxiety flares my trust plummets. Anybody ever feel that way? Ever look at a situation and realize that you are focusing on all the negative aspects of it and in the midst of your focus you put your trust in God on the back burner? If you have take your journal and write out that time or times. Trust me it will help – a lot!

The verse that hit me today as I was reading about Trust in my Gracelaced devotional book was Psalm 32:10:

Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.

Wow. “Woe” is another word for sorrow or distress. We have many of those in the world and in our lives. I can count the endless woes that have plagued my life and caused the anxiety that I fight on a daily basis.

Thankfully that verse doesn’t end there. There is a word, which is one of my favorites, because it is a conjunction that follows a statement, giving us a different perspective. The word is BUT. The beginning of the verse conveys sadness and a disheartening journey, but the second part conveys an unfailing love that we can receive as long as we seek it and TRUST him.

Yesterday I challenged you with memorizing a verse or more that you can pull out when you are in a season of uncertainty. I encourage you to memorize this verse as well. It is a great reminder that in the midst of the woes of the world, trusting in him will bring us unfailing love. Now this doesn’t mean trusting God will make everything easier. No, that is not what this means (and that is a conversation for a different day). What is means is that we don’t have to worry about tomorrow’s woes because we have a God who is for us.

Journal Questions

  1. If you didn’t already write the prompt I bolded above. Trust me it helps!
  2. Make a list of all the woes that are going on in your life right now. Take this time to pray to God about them. Then one by one cross them out and at the end of the list write:

“God, I trust you with my woes.”

Have a blessed day friends,
